Ulverston Scholarship

Update from Iona: “I am writing to update you that I have passed my final year exams and will be graduating from the University of Glasgow with honours, as a qualified veterinarian. I will begin my career as a small animal vet this summer (Although I’m still keeping the door open to all creatures great and small!).”

Thank you so much for your support during my degree, I am extremely grateful for your generosity, and I hope to pay it back to the community in the near future.

“My name is Iona, and I am a final year veterinary student at the University of Glasgow. I kindly received support from the David Snowdon Trust through the Ulverston Scholarship as a previous student at UVHS.

Thanks to their generosity, I have been supported financially throughout my degree. The veterinary degree is extremely intensive, leaving little time for a job. The scholarship has helped with living costs but also my stethoscope, accommodation and travel for veterinary work placements.

With less financial pressure, I have been able to spend more time studying and engaging with the university community by helping with research projects, being a vet ambassador and international student outreach. I have also been able to travel further for placements, which has led to more career opportunities.

I cannot wait to be a qualified vet, and I am very thankful to the Trust for their continued support in shaping my future career.”
