The David Snowdon Trust
The David Snowdon Trust was established by a Declaration of Trust dated 5 October 1999 whose objects are such general charitable purposes as the Trustees shall think fit.
The charity was founded by Cumbrian businessman David Snowdon and incorporates a charity founded by the late Neville Talbot, a Lake District hotelier.
The charity makes grants to support charitable causes particularly Higher Education, Social Needs and the Arts in the county of Cumbria.
Who We Fund
Higher Education
including causes facilitating benefit from exposure to the capitals of greater learning and innovation outside Cumbria and others offering benefit from local apprenticeship schemes, particularly Hospitality.
Social needs
including causes alleviating poverty and increasing social mobility in rural areas.
The Arts
including encouraging appreciation of all the arts and sponsoring talented individuals in their early careers.
We fund up to
£20,000
Our grants are generally up to £20,000 preferably for capital (but not buildings), revenue projects may be considered along with multi-year grants of up to 3 years.
The application deadlines are 1 March and 1 September each year and the Trustees will make their decisions at meetings in May and November. A sub-group meets more frequently to assess grant applications (other than multi-year) of up to £4,000.
