Growing Well is a community-owned business producing organic fruit and vegetables. The team is made up of volunteers and students, nurturing a massive half a million plants a year and growing over 60 varieties of fruit and veg. Growing Well offers a friendly, non-threatening and non-judgemental workplace to anyone recovering from mental health problems. They currently support between 100-150 individuals at their Low Sizergh site, per year, from all over South Cumbria, Central Lakes and North Lancashire.
The David Snowdon Trust donated £5,000 to sponsor the journeys of two young adults at Growing Well’s Low Sizergh site. This funding provided a contribution towards salary costs for their professional mental health and horticulture staff to support the two individuals through their 12-month journeys. This also included costs for their transport, PPE and lunchtime meal requirements, whilst on the programme.
It was lovely to hear the Growing Well team say that our support really has changed lives!
