As part of the “Learning through the Natural World” exhibition programme for 2023, The Armitt ran a series of nature journaling workshops for up to 15 young people per session led by an artist/creative practitioner. The sessions were focused on developing participants’ skills in writing and drawing, making the children think, feel, and relate to the nature around them.
The £2550 grant was specifically used to appoint an artist/creative practitioner and pay for their time planning, resourcing, delivering and evaluating the workshops. There was a fair and equal recruitment process, whereby four people from a larger application process
